SOLOMON KASSA
Founder, 1888EC | Tech Consultant & Strategist | Author | TV Personality | Public Speaker
Solomon brings 16+ years of international professional experience and subject matter expertise that includes 11+ years of top-notch management consulting skill that he acquired by working for Deloitte, one of the top four Global Fortune500 consulting firms, as a senior leader in technology consulting, leading multi-million-dollar large scale technology implementations in healthcare, airline, financial, and public sectors. He worked as a software engineer prior to joining management consulting.
He is also a producer and host of the popular “TechTalk With Solomon” on EBS with more than 30 million viewers. For the past 11+ years, Solomon produced 325 episodes, discussing 900+ science and tech topics as well as interviewing 100+ prominent guests including Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
In 2020, he founded 1888EC, the first tech venture studio to be established in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
He also published “The Wonder of SciTech” in 2018, the first-of-its-kind science and tech 400 pages book to be ever published in Amharic language with more 45,000 copies sold.
Solomon is a public speaker and trainer. He gave various public talks, including at Addis Abeba Science and Technology University, Bahir Dar University, and Tedx Addis. He also trained prominent Ethiopian public sector leaders and ministries, executives from Ethiopia’s biggest banks, and several other organizations.
Solomon received a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and a Master of Science degree in technology management from George Washington University, in Washington DC, USA.
Beyond his unmistakable brand as a poster child of tech that resulted from his tech media personality, several public speeches, book authorship, and tech policy advice, Solomon is also a social media influencer with more than 1.7 million followers.
TESHAGER AMARE
Head Of Operations
Teshager heads consulting and venture studio operations at 1888EC. He oversees the development of 6 startup ventures engaged in e-commerce (pharmaceuticals, tourism and spares), food distribution, ed-tech and simplifying access to finance. He also leads delivery teams which are part of 1888EC’s consulting operations.
In his past experience, he has been involved in medium – large scale digital transformations across Africa supporting public and private sector clients in Ethiopia, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Sudan & Lesotho. In Ethiopia, he has worked as a project management consultant overseeing a $55 Million digital transformation project for the country’s sole utilities company. He was also engaged in the establishment or transformation of national commodity exchanges across Africa, such as the Ghana Commodity Exchange (GCX), AGRO Commodity Exchange (ACX), Sudan Borsa and Nigeria Commodity Exchange (NCX). He has managed digital transformation projects across multiple industries for clients operating mining fields, real-estate, agriculture, public administration and utilities.
